Who we are

Hi, I’m Jessica, the founder of Fields and Feelings Counselling in Winnipeg.

I believe therapy works best when we remember something simple: I’m human, too. While I bring education, training, and experience into the room, I also bring empathy shaped by my own lived experiences. That balance matters to me.

I was born and raised in Winnipeg, which means I understand the rhythm of this city such as the long winters, the tight-knit communities, and the importance of accessible, grounded support. I’ve been a high-level athlete, and I also consider myself an artist and a bit of a nerd at heart. I hold both a Canadian and Czech passport and love travelling; I believe every culture has something valuable to teach us if we’re willing to listen.

I hold a Bachelor of Science and was deeply immersed in research, critical thinking, and evidence-based practice. These foundations continue to shape how I approach therapy today. At the heart of my work is a balance between science and humanity. I believe therapy should feel warm, collaborative, and grounded, but also informed by research, psychology, and practical strategies that truly work.

Throughout my studies, I kept feeling drawn toward psychology and helping professions. Having attended therapy myself from a young age for anxiety, depression, and ADHD, I once believed therapists were somehow immune to those struggles. Over time, I realized something powerful: experiencing challenges doesn’t disqualify you from meaningful work, but can deepen your capacity for it. That realization led me to pursue my Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology.

Today, I work primarily with driven teens and young adults who may look capable and high-functioning on the outside but feel overwhelmed internally. Many of my clients appreciate that I bring both empathy and structure into our sessions. We explore your story and emotions while we also build systems, routines, and evidence-based strategies that support focus, emotional regulation, and long-term wellbeing.

My background in science, athletics, human development, and research allows me to approach therapy with both curiosity and practicality. I believe in understanding the “why” behind patterns  and then translating that understanding into clear, manageable steps forward.

You don’t need to have your path fully mapped out. Most of us don’t. Sometimes it takes a grounded, outside perspective to recognize the strengths that have been there all along.

If you're ready to explore your next chapter with support that is both compassionate and evidence-informed, I would be honoured to walk alongside you.

I look forward to hearing your story.
